鬼月來了！鬼月來的時候，不能做什麼事情？如果晚上有人叫你，記得不要回頭。

Ghost Month is coming! What can’t you do during the Ghost Month?If someone calls you at night, remember don’t look back.

華人覺得，每個人都有三把火，一把在左邊的肩膀，一把在右邊的肩膀，一把在頭上。每一把火的意思都不一樣，頭上的火是「神」，左邊的火是「氣」，右邊的火是「精」。

Huá rén jué de , měi gèrén dōu yǒu sān bǎ huǒ, yì bǎ zài zuǒ biān de jiān bǎng, yì bǎ zài yòu biān de jiān bǎng, yì bǎ zài tóu shàng. Měi yì bǎ huǒ de yì si dōu bù yí yàng, tóu shàng de huǒ shì `shén’, zuǒ biān de huǒ shì `qì’, yòu biān de huǒ shì `jīng’.

Mandarin people think that everyone has three fires, one on the left shoulder, one on the right shoulder, and one on the head. The meaning of each fire is different. The fire on the head means “Spirit”, the fire on the left side means “Qi”, and the fire on the right side means  “essence “.

要是有人叫你，你回頭了，就會把肩膀上的火滅掉，這樣鬼會比較容易靠近你。有人說，鬼想要靠近你，所以晚上會叫你的名字，你一回頭，火就滅了。

Yào shì yǒu rén jiào nǐ, nǐ huí tóu le, jiù huì bǎ jiān bǎng shàng de huǒ miè diào, zhè yàng guǐ huì bǐ jiào róng yì kào jìn nǐ. Yǒu rén shuō, guǐ xiǎng yào kào jìn nǐ, suǒ yǐ wǎn shàng huì jiào nǐ de míng zì, nǐ yī huí tóu, huǒ jiù miè le.

If someone calls you, you turn your head back, the fires on your shoulders will be blown off so that ghosts are easy to get close to you. Some people say that ghosts try to get close to you, so at night they will try to call your name. As soon as you turn around, the fires might go out.

也有人說，拍了肩膀，火也會滅掉，所以要記得，鬼月來的時候，不要拍別人的肩膀，也不叫別人的名字，嚇到別人，就不好了。

Yě yǒu rén shuō, pāi le jiān bǎng, huǒ yě huì miè diào, suǒ yǐ yào jì dé, guǐ yuè lái de shí hòu, bú yào pāi bié rén de jiān bǎng, yě bú jiào bié rén de míng zi, xià dào bié rén, jiù bù hǎole.

Also, some people say that if you tap someone’s shoulder, the fire will go out, too. Therefore,  during Ghost Month, don’t tap others’ shoulders, or call others names. It’s not good to scare other people.
